ORIGIN: Outer Surface of the ischial tuberosity.

INSERTION: Medial tibial condyle; the oblique popliteal ligament; the popliteal fascia.

ACTION: Extension of the hip joint; stabilization of the pelvis; flexion and internal rotation of the knee joint.
