Sternocleidomastoid

ORIGIN: Sternal head: the anterior surface of the manubrium; Clavicular Head: the medial third of the clavicle.

INSERTION: Mastoid process and the lateral part of the superior nuchal line.

ACTION: Involved in flexing the head and neck laterally to the same side and rotates the head to the opposite side.
